I love to give, well thought out presents. By that I mean taking my time to make sure that my present is appropriate for the circumstance and individual. Sometime though, it can be hard to find a greeting card thats suitable. Thats where Color Blind cards come in.

I haven’t as yet bought any but I saw the co- creater Jessica Huie on the Apprentice aftershow last week talking about the range. After looking at the cards available I am very impressed.

It’s rare to find a tasteful card with images of people of color in the UK.

It’s also inspiring to see a young woman of color making it in the business world, with an idea which was sorely needed.

When I had my first child, I decided not to buy a baby bag. They are great to cart around numerous items of baby clutter but I couldn’t find one to my taste. Even the “stylish” ones didn’t cut it. Well, when baby number two rolled round
I had no choice. With two sets of nappies, wipes, toys, bottles and everything thing else kids need to carry around. A new bag was a necessity. I needed something spacious for all the junk but without cartoon characters or in a strange pastel colourway.

So I started where I would normally go to when I want to buy a new handbag. Gucci.

The Gucci diaper bag comes with a changing mat and an adjustable strap so it can be carried across the handles of your stroller.

I liked it but it didn’t seem like great value for money at £455.00 and has a very definite diaper bag appearance. It’s not something you can roll up to the club with. So I moved onto Louis Vuitton

I actually loved this bag, it has a lot of useful features. Two pockets specifically for nappies, remove able foldout changing mat and two internal compartments to make finding things easier. Only problem was the price, £1060.00. I don’t mind spending money on quality items, but that seemed a tad ridiculous.

Eventually I decided to not go for a dedicated baby bag at all, instead buying a Speedy from Louis Vuitton.

Now it does not have any internal compartments or come with a changing mat. But it is large enough to carry the paraphernalia for the kids plus whatever else I need. Which can be a lot, with my makeup, various books and newspapers. In terms of price, when I bought it last year it was £335, this year however it is £365. Inflation, I guess. I have been really pleased with my purchase, even when I don’t have the kids with me. It’s the first bag I reach for.
