Relaxing Time

I self relax, its not for everybody, but for me it’s the best option. As I know my hair best, and as you will, see my process takes a long time. I am not sure if any hairdresser would undergo this number of steps. My aim is to keep my hair at it’s healthiest at all times.

Currently I use  Motions Lye Relaxer which I  add coconut oil to, thus adding moisture and also slowing down the processing time.  I like to switch up my starting point to avoid overprocessing. For example many of us always start at the nape of the neck.  When the hair there starts to break, we ignore it, instead of putting 2+2 together and realising that it has had more processing time than the rest of the head, time after time.

The above are some of the products I use.

After applying the relaxer and smoothing the newgrowth, I throughly rinse and then apply Motions Silk Protein Conditioner  for around 10 mins to help replace some of the protein that has just been stripped out.

Then I neutralize for another 10 mins, leaving the foam on at least 3 min during that time. Another deep conditioner is applied, normally an O.R.S pack for 30 mins with added honey.

After blotting my hair, I add Aphogee Pro Vitamin Leave in, then a small amount of Organics Carrot Oil moisturizer and pure coconut oil to seal in the moisture.

Final step, small amount of Motions Serum.

Then it’s time for rollersetting, after doing this exclusively for 6 months, it now takes me around 20 mins.

As you can see,  I roll in a mohawk, and then the sides are rolled down. It is very important to keep the hair wet at all times.

To ensure the ends remain smooth.

I love to use self-tan and this one from Garnier is currently one of my faves.

It has a pleasant smell, almost tropical and is very hydrating. Which is a must for my dry skin.

It gently warms up your skin tone day after day as it is a gradual tanner. I use the “deep sun kissed shade” and can definitely see a difference when I haven’t used it for a few days.

Right now it is half price at Boots and Tesco’s, I not sure for how long though.

I’m presuming there were no mirrors, where they got dressed, but that does not explain why neither told the other that dressing as mismatched twins is not always the best look.

I am currently aiming to grow my hair from shoulder length to at least armpit length in order to achieve this the relaxing process for me, starts around 2 weeks before the actual chemical process occurs. I aim to strengthen my hair using protein treatments in each of the two weeks before.

Currently I use either Motions CPR or Silk for 30 mins on dry hair before I use either Motions Lavish moisturizing shampoo or Molton Brown’s healthy hair shampoo to cleanse.

I always follow up with a deep condition  treatment such as the O.R.S pack which I add honey to or the Intense Nutrition Mask from Phyto Specific.

3-4 days before, I like to use a clarifying shampoo such as Pantene clarifying shampoo just to make sure my hair is squeaky clean.

The night before I base my scalp with the Motions Scalp Protector and then add conditioner to the previously relaxed hair. This all goes towards protecting the previously relaxed hair and avoiding overprocessing.

Now that we are either in or headed towards a recession.  I thought that I would seek out some bargain threads without having to go the Primark route. Although I am as guilty as the next woman of buying £6.00  jeans when funds are low.

All of the above come from the online outlet of Mango, so you can be assured that they will not fall apart after one wash.

The white shirt and white skirt, would make a great outfit for a summer white party.

All prices in Euros.
